Homemade Granola

Granola is super yummy, but quite expensive to buy at the store. I recently started making my own granola and have found a recipe that I really enjoy.

The nice thing about making granola is that it’s simple and you can make it your own. I usually start with my base– in this recipe, oats–, then at least two types nuts or seeds (or both), one type of dried fruit, sweeteners, spices, and coconut oil.

This granola recipe is very easy to throw together, it just takes a little while for it to bake in the oven.

In this recipe, I decided to use whatever I had in my pantry, which was quite a bit. I also decided to put in chia seeds to see how it would come out.

First you add all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.

Then, I mixed together honey, maple syrup, and coconut oil in a bowl. I microwaved it for about 20 seconds to combine everything together well.

Then mix everything together until everything is well combined and spread out on a parchment lined cookie sheet.

Then bake the granola in the oven for about 45 minutes, until golden brown. Then let cool and store in an airtight container.

I usually eat granola with yogurt and fresh fruit, or as cereal with fresh fruit as well.

Homemade Granola Recipe

PREP TIME: 5 MINUTES
COOK TIME: 45 MINUTES
YIELD: 6-8 SERVINGS

Ingredients:
2 cups of oats
1/4 cup chopped almonds
1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup raisins
2 tbsp chia seeds
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp maple syrup

Directions:
Preheat oven to 275 degrees F. Combine all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Combine oil, maple syrup, and honey in a smaller bowl and microwave if needed. Combine all ingredients together in large bowl until well incorporated.
Bake granola for 15 minute intervals, stirring after every 15 minute baking session. Once fully baked, let cool completely and store in an airtight container.
Serve with milk or yogurt, with fresh fruit.
